Stuart Derdeyn of The Vancouver Province spoke with 11-year-old Skaad Gaa Naay Elementary student Carsen Gray who made her Vancouver club debut at Rossini’s in Gastown on Tuesday (August 13). Seventy-year-old local music legend Bobby Taylor said her performance was reminded of a talented kid he discovered in the ’60s: Michael Jackson. “Like him, she’s got the talent to go all the way,” he said. “Her voice is exceptional, she never misses a note.” Carsen called Britney Spears is a great dancer who then started to sing. “I don’t like her because she lip-syncs,” she said. “Oh, that sounds like I hate her. I don’t, really.”
