Mariah Carey Wins At People’s Choice Awards 2010
Mariah Carey was on hand for the People’s Choice Awards 2010 at Nokia Theatre L.A. Live in Los Angeles on Wednesday (January 6). Mariah took home favorite R&B artist, offering a more coherent acceptance speech than the Palm Springs Film Festival effort the prior evening.
The 39-year-old songbird said people shouldn’t take the champagne impared speech too seriously. “If people don’t understand me and think I’m just like this girl that stands by a microphone and sings ‘Hero’, then they’re definitely not going to get me,” she explained. “But if people knew me better, they would understand I have a sense of humor, and basically that’s what gets me through life.”

Mariah Carey was on hand for the 2010 Palm Springs International Film Festival at the Palm Springs Convention Center on Tuesday night (January 5). The singer accepted her award for Breakthrough Actress her role in ‘Precious’, joined on stage by the film’s director Lee Daniels. “I have to say…. this is …. and please forgive me because I’m a little bit,” Carey told the audience, pausing, prompting several people in the crowd yell out “drunk.” Carey confirmed the intoxication, which was greeted with laughter and applause.
