Boyzone ‘Gave It All Away’ Premieres On Ronan Keating’s Radio Show

Ronan Keating of Boyzone premiered the boy band’s new Mika penned song ‘Gave It All Away’ on his Magic 105.4 radio show on Sunday (January 17), with vocals from and in tribute to the late Stephen Gately. Beforehand, Ronan spoke with his bandmate Mikey Graham.

Talking with The Sun about the song’s video, Ronan said, “The footage is incredibly raw and tough to watch at times but we didn’t want it being too mournful and there’s lots of laughter. It’s us reminiscing about the times we had with our other brother. My favorite scene sees us four sat around a table at the end with Stephen’s favourite picture hanging behind us. To film this video without him was one of the toughest things we’ve done.”

Boyzone Pay Respect To Stephen Gately

Ronan Keating read the following statement on Friday (October 16) at Palma Airport in Majorca on behalf of his Boyzone bandmates as they paid tribute to Stephen Gately, who died last weekend of acute pulmonary oedema:

Last Saturday our world changed forever when we lost our friend and brother Stephen.

We have come to Majorca today to accompany our pal on his final journey back to Dublin, where we know he will be given an unforgettable send-off tomorrow.

We’d like to thank the authorities here for their help and for the respect they have shown to our friend.

Stephen and Andrew had chosen to make Majorca their second home and we know that Stephen loved the times they spent together here.

The countless messages of love and support we have received this week have truly overwhelmed ourselves and the Gately family.

We thank you from the bottom of our hearts for each and every one of them.

We would also like to thank the media for respecting our privacy this week and ask that you continue to do so tomorrow.

Stephen lived to perform and truly loved being centre stage.

You can be sure he’s looking down on us now wishing we’d move over so he could flash his smile for the cameras one more time.

What the future holds for the four of us now is too hard to even think about.

But we know that nothing will ever be the same without our dearest friend, Stephen… Rest in peace, brother.

The reunited boy band talked about the decision to reunite, realizing how much they missed each other when they got back together after eight years, how the original plans were to just take a year off, and their hopes to bring their tour to Australia. Ronan Keating talked about how the internet has been the biggest change since their extended break. "Downloads, that's 50% of the market now for charts back in the UK and Ireland and a lot of Europe," he said. "It's totally changed the industry for us." Ronan added that their fanbase has also changed. "Our fans have grown up, which is great. They're the same age as us now, which is a big change for us. We really noticed that on the concert tour. We see familiar faces in the front row but they brought their kids with them, which is really mad."
