Gemma Tarlach of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel was on hand for Aaron Carter’s Jukebox Tour on Thursday evening at the Riverside Theatre. Tarlach writes, “Whoever thought it would be a good idea to have him tackle some of the best-loved pop songs in history did both Carter and Thursday’s set list a disservice. Whether it was Michael Jackson’s ‘Billie Jean’ or the Bee Gees’ ‘Stayin’ Alive,’ the back-up vocals of Carter’s four-piece journeyman band put those of their boss to shame. In an R-rated pop culture where strippers grinding in music videos is commonplace and top 40 hits have titles such as ‘Pimp Juice,’ squeaky-clean entertainment is a welcome change. But wholesome shouldn’t be synonymous with mediocre.”
