ABC Grooming Nick And Jess Into Sonny And Cher

The New York Daily News reports Jessica Simpson and her husband Nick Lachey have signed to do a variety special that will air on ABC later this season, as the network hopes to turn the couple into the new Sonny and Cher. “They do have a nice yin and yang to them, which, I think, is what you need for co-hosts of a variety show,” ABC Entertainment president Susan Lyne said of the Lacheys. “They are also multitalented. They can do comedy. They’re great singers. And I think they can attract some interesting guests.”
