Alanis Morissette, who turns 30 in July, beamed when asked by Steppin’ Out magazine what keeps her from taking herself too seriously. “I’ve always thought that life was really funny,” she explained. “I just picture God, in this sort of serious (setting), just giggling. That’s why – whenever I ask the Dalai Lama (a question) – I always laugh, because he’s laughing, and I just think that’s it. We’re here to have joy, and we’re here to evolve and define ourselves. And those three things are why I feel like I’m here. It’s pretty funny.”
