There is one thing that Britney fans love to throw in everyone’s face: Album sales. I would like to start out by saying that Britney is nothing but a product. Earlier, someone mentioned Christina’s sales of around 8 million. Correction: she has sold right at 10 million worldwide. Let’s take a minute to examine the facts:
1. Before Christina’s album debuted, the extremely controversial video “Dirrty” was released. This turned millions of people off and she lost a lot of fans. And unlike Britney, she didn’t go on an apology rampage. She didn’t do nude photo shoots then hypocritically play the innocent card.
2. Christina did not promote her album near as much as she could have. Sure, she could have done like Britney and did multiple magazine covers, photoshoots, interviews, guest appearances and TV specials. In fact, Christina had only one special that aired on MTV.
3. Christina chose not to be America’s sweetheart. She quit with the silky blond hair, blue jeans, and fake smile. Therefore, she was rejected by the masses.
4. She debuted at the same time as EMINEM!! Do you honestly think Britney would debut at number one if she were up against Eminem?? I think not. Eminem sold over 700,000 his first week.
5. Britney still appeals to millions of children. That’s an entire audience that Christina doesn’t have anymore.. or at least not near as much.
All of these factors explain why Christina isn’t selling as much as she could be, and why Britney always sells tremendously. I actually think Christina has done a great job considering all of the negative press she gets. And to the idiot who said that “Stripped” was a flop: since when is freakin’ TEN MILLION a flop?? Silly 8 year olds, STAY IN SCHOOL!
Now I as a Christina fan want to throw something in YOUR face! It is called RESPECT, which is something Britney will NEVER have!! Britney’s music is the laughing stock of the music industry! She can have all her popularity, album sales and worthless Kids Choice awards because she will never have critical acclaim. I am SO glad Christina isn’t as popular as Britney. I’m glad Christina had the good sense to stop with the Teenybopper music and grow the **** up! Britney is honored for her body and dance moves and nothing else. Just recently on the Billboard Music Awards, comic the insult dog spent like 5 minutes completely dissing Britney’s music and voice. The whole audience was laughing, I know I was. People bash Christina for her appearance and attitude.. and that’s about it. Never her music and voice. All you brain washed Britney fans keep saying that Christina’s voice is all she has going for her.. well GUESS THE F*** WHAT!! THAT’S ALL SHE NEEDS TO SURVIVE IN THE MUSIC INDUSTRY! Christina is SO lucky that she can do whatever the hell she wants.. speak her mind, dress wildly and scantily.. she can be as dirrty as she wants to be because she has that good ol’ voice to fall back on. She’s STILL selling millions and is still in the charts after OVER a YEAR!. Britney on the other hand HAS to look pageant perfect and stay sweet at all times.. if she didn’t.. her career would be over because that’s all she has going for her. Good looks and a sugary personality.
