All Avril Lavigne’s Songs Are Autobiographical
Contributed anonymously:
YM talked to Avril Lavigne and asked her if she made up the songs or if they came from real life. “They’re all autobiographical,” she said. “People think I’m told to write about certain things, but my songs are about what’s on my mind at the time. I wrote the songs for ‘Under My Skin’ when I was 17 and had just finished high school. I never trusted guys, and ‘Don’t Tell Me’ talks about that, because it was still fresh in my head how guys try to get with girls at parties. ‘My Happy Ending’ explains how hard things are after a breakup because of all the memories.”
