Jay Leno joked during his Tonight Show monologue on Thursday night: “Oh, did you hear about this controversy with Britney Spears? Did you hear about this? I love this. Apparently, the wife of the governor of Maryland said if she had a chance, she would shoot Britney Spears. She is so upset about Britney Spears’ influence, she said, ‘I would shoot Britney Spears.’ Well, now she’s apologized, saying it was just a figure of speech, she said she meant nothing by it. How many think an apology isn’t good enough? [One cheer] How many would rather see them kiss and make up? Yeah! Yeah! Exactly. [Cheers and applause] There you go.”
