‘American Idol’ Flap: Antonella Vs. Frenchie

Ousted ‘American Idol’ season two contestant Frenchie Davis tells The Associated Press she is bewildered over what’s happened with this season’s controversial ‘Idol’ Antonella Barba. “I don’t necessarily think that (it’s racism), but I can certainly look at this and understand why people would draw that conclusion,” Davis said Tuesday from New York, hours before going on stage in the musical ‘Rent’. “I’m not bashing ‘Idol’ or Antonella. She’s a beautiful girl and she’s young. I think it’s great that she didn’t have to go through what I went through.”

March 7, 2007 – A spy on the set of ‘American Idol’ tells TMZ that some of the religious female contestants are upset with Catholic school educated after racy photos of the 20-year-old leaked to the internet. A rep for the show responded, “We have no comment.” While nobody has confronted the New Jersey native, it has been frosty behind the scenes.
