“Myke” here…just got home from 2 & a half hour long American Idols Live!! concert…and here’s a run down of everything:
It starts off with the top 10 finalists each doing 1 FULL LENGTH version of a song they did on the show, going down from #10 to #1, in order. However, Tamyra performs “I’m Every Woman” which was NOT on the show (I think) and is the only song you can really dance to here. Also, Kelly’s song is “Respect.” Justin Guarini even PLAYS THE PIANO for his! This is all followed by a 10 minute break.
The 5 guys come running out doing a complete cover of Nsync’s “Pop” and even dance. I almost swore they WERE *Nsync judging how they were dressed like them and everything! Then when that was done, the girls came out as if they were a girl group and did a full length rock song together.
Closely following was a tiny medley, followed by a full solo performance by Justin Guarini. When he was done, he introduced Kelly who performed a high-powered “Natural Woman.” Then all the finalists came out and did a LONG medley.
At the end, Nikki McKibbin pops out and does a full length cover of a Stevie Wonder song, then introduces Tamyra to do another solo song. Tamyra then begins an EXTREMELY LONG disco medley.
It seems like it ended without Kelly performing her singles, since the whole place goes completely dark, and stays that way for like a minute, but then Justin pops out for yet another solo song! The second it ends, Kelly comes out to do “Before Your Love,” and is immediately followed by a medley by the top 10 of “I’ll Be There.” They then do another song only briefly, and the show ends.
It was AMAZING!!!!
Brian Dunkleman’s New TV Opportunity
October 5, 2002 – Conan O’Brien joked during his Late Night monologue on Friday, “I hate to start the show on kind of a down note, but it’s a sad day for ‘American Idol’ fans. Okay, there are clearly none of them here. People are like, ‘I don’t care.’ Brian Dunkleman, one of the co-hosts of ‘American Idol,’ announced that he will not be returning next season ’cause he wants to — Hear this out. He wants to ‘pursue other opportunities in the world of TV.’ Yeah, when asked which opportunities in the world of TV, he said installing cable.”
YM.com Talks With ‘American Idol’ Finalists
October 4, 2002 – YM.com spoke with several of the ‘American Idol’ finalists, including Tamyra Gray, Nikki McKibbon, Justin Guarini, and the show’s winner Kelly Clarkson. When Kelly was asked what her high point on the show was, she responded, “The best moment for me was when I realized that I actually really wanted this. This is a public life now, and I wasn’t sure if I wanted to do that part of it and put my family and friends through that. The defining point was during my performance of ‘Natural Woman.’ I was on stage and the crowd was just going crazy, and I was like, I think I can do this and be okay with the fact that people will be all up in my business. I mean, I come from a small town, so I’m used to people knowing everything anyway. I’m not bad. I don’t do anything wrong, so..”
