An Apology For Britney Spears’ SNL Performances

Contributed by amusicfanofsoul:

First of all, I am an American, and I feel that it is one of my duties to apologize for the travesty that is known as Britney Spears. My country produced this no-talent and foisted her on the entire planet, and I am ashamed. To call her two “performances” on SNL anywhere near musical or entertaining would be a huge folly.

Britney cannot sing, as she has proven over the last few years over and over again. Britney cannot dance…what she does is gymnastics set to music, and you can see better movements and better dancing in your local gyms. She cannot act….anyone see her movie? Maybe 12 people in total.

The first “performance” she gave on SNL of an instantly forgettable, horrid, generic song(?) was laughably the worst piece of manure ever on the stage of SNL…and they have had many bombs on that stage. And she had the nerve to lip-synch the number. It’s a wonder the audience did not pelt her with rotten apples.

The second “performance” she inflicted upon us was her bid to be recognized as a ballad singer with conviction and emotions. I thought she had swallowed a fly during her song and was trying to cough it up for the remainder of the song. Little baby girl voice does not suit Britney at all.

Let’s hope that her new CD is a HUGE, spectacular flop and that the world can be rid of this overhyped no-talent.

Oh guys… I didn’t write this…i submitted it…so don’t kill me. I thought I was both harsh and funny…but it’s basically telling the truth. but the girl did eat at olive garden…you have to give her credit for that!

I have NEVER, EVER liked listening to Britney Spears so-called singing or watching her so-called dancing. Like you said gymnastics set to music. As I have often said she sounds (to me) like nails scratching on a chalkboard. I watched SNL – mainly for HB but I found that as much as I like her in some of the movies she has done she is no live comedic actress. Halle keep your day job. Love most of your acting and you are beautiful. As for Britney Spears, when she started singing I was dumfounded. I never thought that anyone who sounds like that (is this the good thing that smoking has done) would have the nerve to get up on a stage and do it in front of millions. I just sat there not believing how horrible these performances were. Then I realized that I had to go stop my ears from bleeding. Britney Spears give it up while you can still go out on “top???” or at least while there are still people who “believe in you??????” amusicfanofsoul, I join you in your apology.

I’m a gymnastics coach, and what she did on the stage was NOT gymnastics…more like aerobics or something lol. If she was more of an original dancer, I might have some respect for her, but its so obvious that she was taught every one of those moves step by step. There’s nothing wrong w/ lip-syncing that song though, its impossible to sound decent while doing aerobics lol. But yea, the other song was horrid.

I am from Europe and I too blame America for inflicting Britney Spears on this planet. It was America that turned this untalented ho into a big star and lets face it Britain copies everything America does (e.g. going to war need I say more) and if America hadn’t been so stupid then the rest of the world wouldn’t have to put up with “Britney Spears”.

You are full of crap you know. You go around stating your nation status and using it as a handle for some stupid dramatic write up about Britney Spears and how you apologize for the U.S. Some people actually enjoyed the performances, one of them people being me. Now I admit it wasn’t her best, seeing the song is sort of meant for two people to be singing in it, but do not apologize for the country, please do not because I am not sorry to have a singer like her here. I am happy to know that there is some “Fun” And to say she was “lip-synching” on the stage is laughable. Though she used recorded sounds in the background most of them were from Madonna, and as you could see she wasn’t there……Britney has a distinctive voice, and it is easy, not like the recorder or backup—-sits here rocking——- Go Britney,-tried to do my best to defend you.

Yeah I know what you mean by Britney’s dancing. Sure, it’s not like gymnastics, but her so called “dancing” is so simple and takes so little effort to do that it could be close to just being a warm up workout session before doing Taebo and yoga. My cousins could blow your mind on stage with their dancing, real and natural dancing, and they’re only 3-6 years old. They make Britney’s dancing look like child’s play. I don’t call Brit a real dancer because…well…what she does is not dancing, it’s just choreography. When she’s not on stage “dancing” to her own music (remember when she was “dancing” at the Michael Jackson concert), all she has to offer is little booty shaking with some skimpy clothes and putting hands in the air. If that girl didn’t have choreographers, she wouldn’t be titled as a “dancer”.

If you hate the woman so much then don’t bother writing a whole essay about her. I can’t stand the little slut so I sure won’t be wasting my time writing frigging long essays about her, it will only mean she is actually worth something.

Apologize to Americans? a travesty? a little dramatic don’t you think, if you don’t liker her music-don’t listen, if you don’t like her performances-don’t watch, if you don’t like her acting-don’t go to the movie, don’t buy her new CD when it comes out either for those handful of people who don t like her-its not that complicated but what do you guys do? watch and read everything about her and then complain about it? Hello??? I for one, and many others since she is massively popular, feel she is an amazing performer she never claimed to be a vocalist like Mariah etc.. she is an entertainer, when you dance its impossible to sing live and(us fans) don’t mind that because she is a performer!!! she is down to earth, sweet, and very likeable from what I’ve seen and would much rather watch her concert than Christina who hoops and hollers the whole time plus, the ballad Britney sang on SNL was amazing-live singing too!!so if you don’t care for her then fine but don’t be so damn dramatic about it and spare us all the stupid essays

We all know Britney can’t sing.. Even Britney herself knows but it’s unfortunate her people have to lie to her to make her feel good. on the other hand, it’s ridiculous to blame America for Britney Spears because in reality Europe is just as bad and maybe even more horrible for putting out bull-sh-it acts like the Spice Girls for instance. Aside from Britney Spears, We still have the best performers from America, and like it or not, we’re the best!

“I am an American, and I feel that it is one of my duties to apologize for the travesty that is known as Britney Spears.” Well I am an American too, and I’m not apologizing because she’s American too. That’s ridiculous. You know what? I really don’t even have a damn thing to say to this article. It was a waste of space that shouldn’t of even been posted. I respect people’s opinions- but this is just stupid.
