Maddfan writes "Christina Aguilera and Britney Spears have always been cordial with each other from the very beginning. They both dismissed rumors of a feud or rivalry between each other, although I believe they both were/are secretly in competition with each other. But if you think about it, the way Christina explained the situation in Blender, Britney kind of gave her the cold shoulder at the VMA rehearsals. Kind of like "I'm the new Queen of pop and I’m best friends with Madonna, ha-ha, I'm not going to talk to you anymore". I know that sounds petty on my part but that’s just the impression I got as I read the article.
Now we all know Christina never calls anyone out unless they do or say something negative towards her first (i.e.: Eminem, Kelly Osbourne, Pink) so that is why this Blender article came as such a shock to some of us because Christina never resorts to that, so there had to be a reason why Christina would completely blast Britney like that. I know Christina has always spoken of the lip-syncing and how she is against it and so on, so that was nothing really new, but the way she explained Britney as "a lost little who desperately needs guidance" was a personal attack on Britney.
I think Britney might have rubbed Christina the wrong way at the VMA rehearsals, therefore Christina became bitter and probably thought "Screw it! I’m sick of acting like buddies with Britney if she isn’t even going to acknowledge me" type thing. On top of that Britney's kiss with Madonna got more attention than hers (because of MTV's reaction shot of Justin) and that could only add fuel to the fire. I would feel frustrated or upset about it too if I was Christina, because you are asked to do a tribute (which is what it was) for one of your once idols and you get completely shunned. It’s kind of a slap in the face.
Furthermore, immediately following the VMA's Christina had an interview with Blender magazine and I guess felt the need to vent all her feelings and emotions and put everything on the table. All her opinions on Britney, the lip-syncing, the frustration with the business, EVERYTHING! Basically meaning she is done with acting phony and goody goody with Britney, whom she believes along with Destiny’s Child star Beyonce Knowles, are the focus of what this business has become. But notice how she only mentions Beyonce once? It's because Christina wanted to call out Britney more than anything as a way to get back at her for ignoring her at the VMA rehearsals, I believe. Christina knows Beyonce is a great singer and takes pride in writing and producing her music. Christina has always complimented Beyonce numerous times in the past for that. So this was all about Britney, but since Beyonce has been guilty of lip-syncing lately so it was only relevant to mention her at the time.
There is my theory. In addition to that check out my Madonna threatened by Christina thread I made following the VMA’s a couple months ago, I think that might coincide with the whole ordeal, but again these are just my opinions. You don’t have to agree but please don’t rant on and on about how this is a tired subject and so on. I understand most of you will be thinking since I’m one of Christina most diehard fans that I have a slated viewpoint, but I want to make it clear that I don’t hate Britney because Christina dislikes Britney. I think Britney is a sweet, but you have to consider where Christina might be coming from. Maybe Britney isn’t as sweet and as she portrays?"
