Positivity Isn’t So Bad, Is It?

Wow. You all are ferociously hard on Britney Spears and Christina Aguilera. However, I much rather focus on the positive about them instead of trying to bring them down. I’ll start with Christina.

Christina Aguilera’s strong and bold personality is the perfect match for her phenomenal voice. Her vocals have been compared to the likes of Whitney Houston, Mariah Carey, and Celine Dion–and with good reason. It is safe to say that her mighty voice is what got her the grammy for Best New Artist. She has also received a grammy for her part in Lady Marmalade, and a Latin grammy for Spanish album, Mi Reflejo. This year she has scooped up 5 more grammy nominations. While others may scoff at her attempt to explore her roots, I commend her for taking the risk of recording an album in Spanish. She also uses her talent to inspire millions of people to feel better about themselves and to stay strong. Her album “Stripped” is full of personal and heart-felt songs that we can all relate to. I also love the fact that she will wear anything she damn well wants to. Granted, her choice of clothing is often criticized, but not many celebrities have the “freedom” that Christina has taken for herself. The freedom to look and dress however she wants to without worrying if a hair is out of place or if she’s going to make the Worst Dressed list. In fact, she wants to make the worst dressed list. She is on her way to becoming a fashion icon. Her attitude is also scolded, but I like that she speaks her mind–even if what she’s saying is negative. Afterall, men do it all the time–but does anyone (the media) bash them for it?

Britney Spears is an all around wonderful entertainer. She makes music that makes you wanna get up and dance. It’s very upbeat and happy; it makes you feel good if you allow it to. Her songs really stick in my head and i often find myself bouncing around to the beat of her songs. We all know that she can dance her ass off too. She takes charge of the stage and captivates her audience. It’s really no surprise to me that she can easily be labelled the most popular performer right now. She has a wonderful personality. Even though she is such a mega-star, she still remains down to earth and sweet. She’s also a little on the goofy side, but i appreciate that quality. She keeps a smile on my face. Many people try and bash her voice. Yes, it’s not the strongest but it is strong enough. Mandy Moore doesn’t have a strong voice either, but I don’t see anyone bashing her because of it. Britney’s voice is soft and gentle, which is perfect for her style of music. Britney has a unique style of her own–mixing trendy tops and accessories with a simple pair of jeans. I give props to anyone who can make a pair of jeans look as good as Britney does :)

Both of these girls are very talented and successful in what they do. I think we should remember that things would be really boring if every girl was just like Christina or just like Britney. It’s nice that these girls are so different.
