Atlanta Begins Tuning Out Of ‘American Idol’

’ had huge numbers on Tuesday, but did take a ratings drop in one market – Atlanta. The Atlanta Journal Constitution reports the Norcross native Tamyra Gray was voted off the show last week, so 140,000 Atlantans decided to skip the show apparently. On Aug. 21, ‘Idol’ peaked with 860,000 metro Atlanta viewers out of about 4 million residents, according to local Nielsen figures. This past Tuesday night, without an Atlantan left to root for, about 720,000 tuned in. Nationally, the show drew 15.3 million, their best number of the season.
