Mark Guarino of the Chicago Daily Herald was on hand at the Avril Lavigne concert at UIC Pavilion on Saturday. Guarino says, “Avril Lavigne is the best of the teen pop singers who have come and gone over the past few years. Unlike Britney Spears, the fallen teen idol whose bubbly attributes Lavigne’s label built a marketing campaign against, Lavigne can sing without lip syncing and her Everygirl relationship with her fans seems less of a pose.”
