Avril Lavigne Never Gets Stage Fright

Teen People had a backstage pass with Avril Lavigne on school plays, her worst concert, and ‘My Happy Ending’. “In Dublin, I found out that my grandpa had passed away two hours before the show. That was really hard. I wrote a song that’s on my new record about him called ‘Slipped Away’. I never, ever, ever get stage fright. It’s funny, because just a couple weeks ago, I went in front of 10, 000 people to play my first show in nine months, and I was like, ‘Why am I not nervous? Why am I so calm?’ I did theatre outside of school. I was in ‘Godspell’ and ‘You’re a Good Man, Charlie Brown’. It’s so funny- I never talk about that. As for ‘My Happy Ending’, of course it really did happen. Every song on my record is true. Going through breakups hurts, but they’re good, because they make you stronger.”
