Avril Lavigne Not Ready For Primetime Quite Yet

John Soeder of the Cleveland Plain Dealer reviewed the Avril Lavigne concert at the Cleveland State University Convocation Center on Tuesday night (April 15). Soeder writes, “If she was nervous in the headlining slot, she didn’t show it. In fact, she barely registered any emotions. Her voice was strong and her rock ‘n’ roll attitude was refreshing. But Lavigne was too passive in the spotlight, content to pump her fist occasionally or wander casually around the stage. She strapped on a guitar for a couple of tunes, including ‘Mobile.’ Despite the charisma deficit, her young devotees went ga-ga all the same. Then again, they cheered when one of the opening band’s roadies tuned a guitar before the gig.”
