Avril Lavigne Scores Five Grammy Noms, Sums Up 2002

Launch.com caught up with after the singer nabbed five Grammy nominations yesterday. “2002 is probably like the craziest year of my life: releasing my first record, shooting my first video, being up for…,” Avril said. “This is my first time having anything to do with the Grammys. I won my first award this year. It’s been really, really intense.” As if there was one of the five she most wants to win, Lavigne said, “Yeah, best female rock whatever it was (laughs).”

Grammy Nominees Topping Album Charts

Norah Jones’ ‘Come Away With Me’ will be the #1 album on this week’s Billboard Charts selling 129,162 copies. Avril Lavigne’s ‘Let Go’ will take the #2 spot moving another 120,000 units. Eminem’s ‘8 Mile’ soundtrack and Christina Aguilera’s ‘Stripped’ will land at #3 and #4, respectively. The Dixie Chicks will come in at #5. All the artists in the top 5 happen to be up for Grammys.

Avril Lavigne Tops UK Album Charts

January 6, 2003 – Robbie Williams, who enjoyed a six-week reign at #1 with ‘Escapology’, was knocked off the top spot by Avril Lavigne’s ‘Let Go’, the first time the Canadian singer’s album has hit the top spot in the UK since its October release. Lavigne kicks off her first UK tour in March, where tickets sold out in days and two more dates had to be added.

Avril, Eminem & Britney Dominate Zone’s Year-End Hitchart

Avril Lavigne Recruits Butch Walker For Sophomore LP

December 31, 2002 – AlternativeAddiction.com reports that Avril Lavigne is planning on heading back to the studio to begin work on her second album after finishing her spring tour. Butch Walker has been recruited to write and produce her next album, a change of pace from Lavigne’s ‘Let Go’ debut, which she claims to have written herself. Walker has taken production credits on his work with Injected, Stroke 9, Bowling For Soup, and SR-71 in which he also helped co-write the bands only hit in their song ‘Right Now’.
