Common Sense Media, an independent,
non-profit organization announced its first annual awards for excellence in
kids’ and family entertainment. Avril Lavigne won in the ‘Musician’ category. These awards honor individuals, companies, and
products whose efforts have engaged and inspired kids through music, movies,
TV, video games, books, and the Web. “The award winners prove you can make great media for kids and families
without relying on gratuitous violence, lurid language or over-the-top
commercialism to attract an audience,” said Jim Steyer, founder and CEO of
Common Sense Media.
