While on tour, Avril Lavigne admits she has penned only a few lyrics for her next album, instead wanting to take her time, making sure she doesn’t burnout. “I see people that have been around for a while, and I can really appreciate their staying power,” she tells Marc Weingarten of the Los Angeles Times. “Look at Green Day. They waited five years to come out with a record, and it’s a smash hit. Or Madonna, who’s a mother now but still a vital artist. I really respect that ability to sustain a career over a long period of time.”
Avril Lavigne: Some Of Those Girls Love Tabloid Attention
August 21, 2005 – Avril spoke with The Charlotte Observer and talked about her ability to fly under the tabloid’s radar screen. “I’m always trying to keep myself out of those stupid magazines because I don’t want people talking about who I’m dating and who I’m with,” Lavigne said. “It’s none of their business and that’s all they’ll talk about. I prefer people just think about my music. I’m sure those people who are all over those magazines are asking for it. Some are so desperate they’ll call a restaurant and say, ‘I’m going out for the day.’ I’ve heard from different publicists telling me about people they represent. I’m just like, ‘You’re kidding me?’ Some of those girls love it.” The story at charlotteobserver.com has since been removed.
