Steve Morse of the Boston Globe reviewed Avril Lavigne’s concert at Tsongas Arena last night. Morse says that unlike Britney Spears, “this was not eye candy and backing tapes. This was legitimate music. Lavigne sang and played electric guitar with rather stunning power for an 18-year-old. She had a highly individualized personality and sang songs that she at least cowrote, while probing emotions that were genuine to the teenage experience.” He added, “She lived up to her press clippings, proving why she had been nominated for best new artist at the Grammys this year.”
