Malcolm X Abram of the Acron Beacon Journal reviewed Avril Lavigne’s concert Tuesday night at the Cleveland State University Convocation Center. Abram writes, “As a performer, Lavigne, who dubbed this cross-country trek the ‘Try and Shut Me Up Tour,’ still has a little to learn about working a crowd, even one for whom she can do no wrong. Dressed in loose fitting black khakis, a studded belt and tank top, she spent the first several songs either standing still, walking back and forth across the spacious stage or jumping straight up and down while belting out carbon copies of her album tracks. She seemed aloof, seldom smiling and barely acknowledging her acolytes’ intense presence.”
