Ballantine’s VP Says Britney Book Sales No Factor

The Associated Press talked to Ballantine’s vice president and director of publicity, Kim Hovey, who denied earlier reports that the disappointing sales of the Britney and Lynne Spears book A Mother’s Gift was a factor in pulling out of the Justin Timberlake book deal.

Hovey admits Justin’s inability to be able to promote the book was the key factor, “We felt very strongly that we needed him to be able to go out on the road and do national media appearances and bookstore events.”

As for Timberlake’s flack, Lisa Kasteler said the *NSYNC singer wouldn’t shop the book with other publishers and conceded, “He had too much going on to be able to give it the kind of time that he wanted to.”
