Jenny Eliscu of Rolling Stone magazine caught up with Michelle Branch for their Women in Rock issue. Asked what effect being a woman has had on her music, Branch responded, “I think it gives you the right to be really cheesy at times, writing love songs. And teenage girls are the strangest creatures, because everything seems like the end of the world. Relationships, friendships — everything is magnified a bazillion percent. For a writer, that’s awesome, because I’ve never really had serious relationships, but if you listen to my record it’s like I’ve been heartbroken fifty times.”
