Tom Bishop of BBC News Online reviewed Britney Spears’ new album ‘In The Zone’. He writes, “Coupled with bland lyrics and average vocals, the promised emergence of Britney’s own ‘voice’ never takes place. And despite her dancefloor ambitions, she allows herself to slump into the safety net of ballads ‘Everytime’ and ‘Shadow’. ‘In The Zone’ is the sound of Britney catching up with her chart rivals when she was expected to easily overtake them.” Read more.

All the reviews are sounding the same – the producers did great work with the beats, but Britney lets the album down with the vocals. Man, it could have been brilliant if when the record company was picking their puppet, they’d picked someone who could sing.
oh that’s gotta hurt and the bad reviews keep coming and coming but lets take the scientific approach and count how many post of Britney fans and their excuses about why she does not suck there is
LOL! all the bad reviews are piling up. even in the ones where they give her a half-decent grade they slam her in the review text, making it obvious they were paid to give her a good grade. this guy was being easy on her. her music and performances and self is stuck in three years ago.
Reviews are average. Her other albums were judged a bit more harshly, though. Whatever. Buy if you like, don’t buy if you dislike.
Oh who really cares.. All that matters is that the fans like the album and I think we do.. well, I know I do! Go Britney! awesome CD.. just got mine now!
Had more good reviews than bad ones, though. I downloaded most of In the Zone (and I’m getting the rest now). Pretty much what they’re saying is true…great beats, great production, no real vocals from the singer. Good dance music, no substance.
But they also needed somebody who would do whatever they wanted (dress slutty and act innocent about it, do a movie, dance with a snake and smile for the camera)
