British People Can Stand Anything
Jay Leno joked during his Tonight Show monologue on Friday night, “And the British people standing tough after yesterday. The terrible bombing. The Olympics will still go on. London buses are — I think they’re running today. So God bless them. See, the British people are very tough. They put up with the Nazis, they put up with al Qaeda, they even put up with Madonna. Okay? These people can stand anything. So our hearts are with them. Yes, sirree Bob.”
Live8 Madonna.com Homepage And Terror Message
July 8, 2005 – Check out Madonna.com for the latest transformation to a picture of the Queen of Pop performing at Live8 last weekend. There is also a message pertaining to the awful events that took place in London yesterday, that reads “Terrorism is the worst way to make your voice heard. Instead of killing innocents, try and learn from them PEACE”.
I remember when I used to find Jay funny. Now I think he’s a jackass who takes the lowest road possible to get a laugh. I’ll never forget him bringing Ryan Seacrest to tears accusing him of being gay, and forcing him to talk about his breakup with his ex girlfriend on national TV. I felt awful for Ryan. And I don’t find this joke funny at all. I love Madonna, but this isn’t about her. I don’t see a tragedy like what just happened in London as material for a monologue. The joke was cruel, inconsiderate, unkind, unfunny, tasteless, and he owes all of London an apology.
I HAVE TO AGREE WITH YOU ON THIS ONE… BUT THE MADONNA REFERENCE WAS FUNNY THOUGH AND’, ‘TRUE…
Well, Thursday at the end of his monologue he did make a few serious remarks expressing sympathy and appreciation for the British. I don’t think this joke was out of line – really it was just a shot at Madonna
you are so right…’, ‘I don’t know why there is any reason for him to use the London tragedy as comedy material. That’s just so low and disgusting, and extremely tacky. Jay seems to do nothing more but make fun of people harshly, and now he’s at the point where he’s making jokes out of a terrorist attack? Who else does that? i mean seriously, Jay needs to get slapped.
but he made it seem that way —>’, ‘It’s one thing to just take a shot at Madonna for the sake of taking a shot at her, but he could have done that without putting a serious subject into the mix. It just made the joke seem awkward and not funny.
that’s not funny at all. infact, it’s even less funny than his mikey jokes. people died jay, like your career as a comedic talk show host did. try laughing at that. i do!
and the lowest part is, he doesn’t even get a laugh anymore.’, ‘VIVA LA CONAN!!!
and he’s getting press if he does have to apologize. didn’t conan apologize once?
