Larry Flick of Metroline reports that gays have connected to Britney Spears’ evolution from a teen renegade into a provocative young woman on her fourth album, ‘In The Zone’. She also displays the kind of larger-than-life persona that queer listeners require from their divas. “The funny thing, though, is that I never think in terms of being a diva,” Spears said. “I just think about doing good work, having a good time, and making music that people can respond to. If that leads people into seeing me as a diva, well, I guess that’s cool… as long as it’s a diva in a positive sense and not in a negative or bitchy way.”

I DON’T THINK SO. In my circle of gay friends the only person that likes Britney is my boyfriend, other than that everyone spends most of their time listening to artists with real talent and/or other divas that really deserve the title for the way they carry themselves.

I’m not gay, but I do know a lot a gay guys that love Britney. I’m not saying my friends represent the entire gay community either, I’m just saying that Britney does have a lot of gay fans. Just because you don’t know very many doesn’t mean they don’t exist.

I think a lot of gay males like happy, upbeat music because when they come out of the closet, it’s like a life long weight has been lifted off of them and they are genuinely happy. I think that’s great. I’ve always thought Britney was a gay icon. Gay people and people in general tend to like strong women who are good at what they do and Britney is good at what she does. She makes fun, carefree dance music which totally reflects her fun carefree personality. So I can definitely see why gay guys would look up to her. As a bisexual dude, she’s perfect for me because not only do I look up to her and respect her, but I also happen to think she’s the finest piece of ass on Earth. :)
