Christina Aguilera is a technically skilled singer. She’s a good vocalist. Okay, now everybody repeat that 1000 times, so we don’t have to hear that tripe ever again! Christina has a voice, and that’s it! Unlike Britney Spears, she is not multi-faceted, multi-talented or particularly artistic. It takes more than a four octave howl (and that’s all it is) to be considered a decent recording artist, much less the Queen of Pop.
May I also add that while Christina gloats about her prized pipes, not everyone even likes her voice. Some critics find her wailing downright unlistenable. Britney gets knocked so much for singing, not because she has poor vocals but because she’s not a powerhouse like some of her close rivals. And… Isn’t that a relief? One cannot live off of drippy ballads alone!
If people weren’t so thick-headed and resistant it would be plain to see that Britney is quite the full package. She is a 5 star entertainer. Her vocals are airy, but quite lovely when sung live; her dancing is effortless and captivating (you cannot quit watching her); the lyrics she writes are party perfect; she takes career-defying risks with her sound (no singing ballad after sleep-inducing ballad to the tune of a piano or guitar) and when it comes to looks she completely shuts down shop on all her pale competition.
The bottom, middle and top line is: Britney has the voice, the moves, the music and the looks. Christina has the voice. Do I really need to announce the winner?
