Britney Spears Interview On Dateline – Why Us Fans Love Her

When I heard about Diane Sawyer interviewing , I kinda of blew it off. I figured it would be like the Justin Timberlake interview with Barbara Walters, where it was about promoting his upcoming the album than to about getting into the nitty gritty. And although the intention of this interview was to promote ‘In the Zone,’ it was obvious that there was much more to it as well. This interview was about tough questions and tough answers, and by the end, Britney managed to remind me of why I loved her, and if possible, made me love her even more.

The main thing I loved about this interview was her honesty. She was asked some pretty hard questions, and she answered them all honestly. The first one was when she was asked about her voice. No lie, no vague answer, but brutal honesty. In addition, she wasn’t afraid to point out her weaknesses, and she wasn’t afraid to compliment her competition. To me, this is what makes her stand above all other artists. She is down to earth, and could quite be, as said millions of times before, the girl next door. Christina may feel the need to put her down, but Britney proved she was above it. Even on the Jimmy Kimmel show after Dateline, Britney did not take a dig at Christina when the opportunity arose. When asked about why no one paid attention to the kiss between Madonna and Christina, she could have easily said that it was because Christina has always played second to her. Instead, she said the it was sad and unfair, and did not unnecessarily put Christina down. Britney’s modesty has always amazed me, and even as she gets bigger, it seems not much has changed.

The next moment that reminded me of why I love her was when she broke down. In moments like that, I feel like I relate to her the most. She is human, and like any 21-year-old, has her ups and downs. She doesn’t pretend to be perfect, or stronger than she really is, or anything else. Britney has never felt the need to portray a bad-ass attitude, and I love that about her. She is humble, reserved, and vulnerable, and I respect her for not trying to hide it.

Lastly, I loved about the way she handled the Justin topic. She could have really ripped him, and made him look like the pathetic loser we all know him to be. But she didn’t and decided again to take the high road. It’s clear to me that Justin needed her to succeed, but she doesn’t need him. She was so honest about it all, and rather than attack him, she praised him and talked about his good qualities, not his bad ones. Her ability to talk positively about a guy who made her look so bad proves that she has a big heart, and that heart really shines through. She is an awesome, down-to-earth person, and this interview really proved it.

Sometimes I lose perspective of how old Britney really is, and when I really think about it, the fact that she is only 2 years older than me amazes me. She has, more than any artist out right now, grown up under a spot light. We have seen her grow up in front of our eyes, and I am more proud than ever to be her fan. Diane Sawyer may have tried to drill her and get the dirt, but now that it has all be said and done, I can truly say that I have an all new love and respect for Britney.

Can you quit with the dam* essays? it’s not like anyone wants to hear this cheesiness. anyway…i thought it was sad when Britney cried…she just didn’t pout…she melted! I mean it was a breakdown waiting to come out. you have a all new love and respect for Britney?…didn’t you always? lol! uh.if I’m not mistaken Britney did her pointing out at other people for her own mistakes thing again. she said look at J.Lo, Kate Hudson, and Christina. but it was gravy. but she was holding stuff in. I felt she was fibbing on a few of the questions…and she needs to answer with longer detailed answers…somewhat like Christina. hey maybe you can help her since you love these overly-drawn out explanations. lol! j/k! but as long as she knows Christina has a good voice. she said something like she loves it. and she said she wants a voice like Whitney’s…which as we all know…Christina’s her mini-me.

All in all…good interview. kinda fake expressions. but good. why the heck didn’t she just say “i love sex…leave me alone!” it won’t hurt her career. I mean does she think peeps are gonna believe that Fred’s that much of a liar.

Really so Borntoplay is a 19 year old teenybopper. how sad, very sad. You should be embarrassed!

I am just kidding, hey I am 19. I listen to Christina Aguilera , my friends make fun of me!

First, I have always love and respected Britney. But tonight my love and respect for her went up even more. Know what I mean? Second, about point out other artists that dress like her. She wasn’t insulting, she was just point out that it doesn’t make sense that she gets crap for it and they don’t. That’s all. Third, I’d be glad to help Britney! lol. I’d love to meet her. But yes, I was very proud that she was able to acknowledge that Christina had a great voice. Showed that she wasn’t jealous or bitter about it. Had she denied, well, it would have been a different story. And also, I agree on the mini-me thing. Houston’s voice is powerful. Too bad she started with all those drugs.

Hell yeah I am! lol. Not really,Britney is the only pop I listen to. But I do love her

Why should I be embarrassed? lol. She is older than me.

Here is the non-fan perspective: There were ups and downs to the interview. Some answers seemed like they weren’t quite the truth (Breathe On Me is just about someone breathing on you). It was cool she admitted that X-Tina has a better voice, however I think she was wrong in saying that no other females get bad publicity for doing “provocative” photos because that is not the case. Despite what some people may think, just cause you are annoyed by an artist doesn’t mean you are heartless, so I must say I felt bad for her when she broke down. I can kind of understand the tough year thing.

There is nothing wrong with liking a pop artist (although technically anyone who is POPular falls under that title). Proud 18 year old Justin supporter here.

Wow, I agree completely. She’s just a vulnerable 21 year old girl still looking for answers, just like the rest of us. While she does sometimes put up a guard (can you blame her?), this time she was very open. And when she cried, oh lord, I lost it. My friend and I were drowning in tears, heh, such dorks. I loved when Diane asked her if she could still sing like she used to and Britney did some a capella, and just killed it. She really doesn’t give her voice enough credit. On top of her amazing music, her amazing ability to perform and entertain, and her astonishing fame, she remains to be modest, dorky, genuinely nice, and human. She has the whole package, and a few artists out there could learn a thing or two from her. She really is a rare breed in this industry and I’m so proud to be her fan.

I HAVE TO ADMIT…I’M STARTING TO SEE BRITNEY, THE REAL BRITNEY, COME OUT. I KNOW HOW MUCH SHE WANTS TO HOLD IT IN…ALL THE FAKENESS. BUT SHE’S GROWING AND SHE KNOWS SHE MUST LET IT GO AND SHE IS REALIZING THAT THE WORLD ISN’T SO GLOSSY AND PRETTY. BUT IT HURT TO SEE BRITNEY CRYING… I KNOW HOW MUCH SHE IS GOING THROUGH. THE SAME EXACT THING HAPPENED WITH CHRISTINA…NOW SHE JUST TURNS THE TABLES AROUND AND PREACHES WHAT SHOULD BE PREACHED! LOL! BRITNEY SHOULD FOLLOW THAT PATH. I AM NOT A FAN AT ALL…ESPECIALLY NOT OF HER VOICE, MUSIC, AND IMAGE. BUT IT WILL BE EXCITING TO SEE THE REAL BRITNEY. BUT I WON’T BUY HER ALBUM. LOL!

I don’t dislike Britney the person. For all I know she could be the nicest on earth. I dislike Britney the product, and what she’s done to music. I dislike her for lying and lip-syncing, for producing immature music and marketing it to the masses. I feel her to be insincere and a little brainless. And mainly, I misunderstand that someone with so little musical talent could be so popular. I have no respect for her as a musician or as an artist. I don’t know her personally and don’t feel that I have grounds to attack her for her personality (besides that I think she’s ditzy and childish). But for selling so many albums, more power to her. I give her credit. I do not give her respect.

I agree with you…..Britney doesn’t give enough credit to herself to bring out her voice to the public….i downloaded her new album on MTV.com and I thought that there was some substance there…she’s coming out more…being more honest….and sure even though there are times where she seems kinda vague about expressing how she feels about sexuality and expressing sexuality in her photo shoots…there is still something there that’s telling her to keep on trying. I have not become a Britney fan, but however, I have come to admire her at times like these when she is the most honest and shining all her own without anybody backing her up…i wish she were more like that onstage than offstage….her voice is not the greatest, her voice is not the worse, but her honest personality is what brings out the best to show it.
