The Sun reports Britney Spears’ lawyer on Monday insisted she had been deadly serious about the Saturday marriage to Kentwood friend Jason Alexander. David Chessnoff, speaking minutes after the annulment was granted, said: “They are simply two young people who regret what they did. The marriage was taken seriously and there have been some upsets at reports it was a joke. They were seriously thinking about getting married, but did not take everything into account.” His comments contradicted an earlier statement from Jive Records, who claimed the marriage had been a joke that went too far.
