Jeanine Tan of Channel News Asia profiled Britney Spears and how she’s setting herself up to become the Madonna of this generation. Tan writes, “At the peak of Spears’ popularity in 2000, before there was any talk of working together, Madonna wore a T-shirt with Britney’s name splashed across the front. It was of her own accord and a public nod to Spears’ career.” According to Natasha Theseira, senior product manager at Universal Music: “If Britney were born in Madonna’s era, she would be a Madonna. I think she could be the new Madonna. Madonna sees that, too. That’s why she chose Britney and not [Christina Aguilera].”
