Britney Spears Over? I Think Not

I don’t really respond much to posts on this website because the haters are worst here than anywhere, but sometimes I just have to get my thoughts out there. The fact that people can sit here and say that Britney Spears is “flopping” or “over” is absurd and beyond me. “Me Against The Music” was #1 on the World Charts for 5 weeks combining the Sales Charts (3 weeks) and Sales/Airplay Chart (2 weeks so far.) Her album “In The Zone” was number one for two weeks and let me say that not many artists hit #1 on the World Album Charts since most don’t release CD’s in every part of the world like Britney, Dido, and few others. That right there is proof that Britney isn’t close to over… she has a record label in every country from America to Brazil to Germany to Israel to Korea to Australia. I don’t know many other artists that do. Not even Christina Aguilera herself does. I’ve ran into Britney fans on the net from Kuwait, Israel, and Qatar (all in the Middle East) who didn’t know who Christina was.

I’ll stop rambling and show you facts Britney isn’t close to over. In fact, she’s just begun.

In four short weeks “In The Zone” has already sold close to 2.5 million worldwide. 1.15 million in the USA alone and 1.4 million everywhere else. Christina and Justin weren’t even passed 1mil worldwide in their fourth weeks. It wasn’t until their second singles that their albums took off. Unlike Christina and Justin, Britney’s first single “Me Against The Music” was a huge hit worldwide. It hit number one in almost 20 countries and is STILL hitting #1 in countries as we speak (Me Against The Music hit #1 in Chile this week and is expected to in Colombia and Brazil in the next 1-3 weeks.) Me Against The Music peaked at #35 in the USA which I would HARRDLY consider a flop. That is extremely well for an artist getting played on one format alone. Most pop artists only peak around #50. She is in her ninth week on the American charts right now and is expected to climb at a rapid pace (no pun intended) this week with the release of the Maxi-CD Single. It’s rumored she sold a whopping 4k with the Single which is amazing considering the average #1 single on the American Single Charts only sells 4-6k a week.

This week “In The Zone” remains number one in Korea and Greece and stabilizes from last weeks big fall around the world. “In The Zone” fell no more than 5 spots in 99% of the countries this week basically saying sales are evening out and she should continue to sell a decent amount worldwide until the release of “Toxic” which is expected to do extremely well. Toxic is a very radio-friendly song in Europe and will show many Europeans that there is more good songs than “Me Against The Music” on her CD. In America I don’t have my hopes up for “Toxic” to do that great, but her, anything can happen. I also want to remind you of Britney’s World Tour coming up in 2004. So far it has been confirmed she’ll be visiting North America, Europe, Asia, and Australia. Latin American shows are rumored as well. Britney hasn’t done a world tour since 2000 when she was at her peak. Notice how after she stopped touring sales have been at a decline? I have a good feeling this tour will shut a lot of people up sales-wise.
