Britney Spears Part Of The Dumbing Down Of America

Former Phish guitarist Trey Anastasio shared with Doug Elfman of the Las Vegas Review Journal a time when opera singer Beverly Sills once told him that America couldn’t produce another Beverly Sills right now, due to the degradation of music education in the U.S. school system. The pool of musically schooled adults is “so low, everyone wants to be like Britney (Spears),” Anastasio says. “Who can listen to opera? It’s the dumbing down” of America.
