Yesterday, Popdirt noted that the Britney Spears hair auction on eBay with the asking price of $1 million was likely a violation of the site’s policy against selling of body parts – despite their exception of hair, since normal human hair auctions the owner is not identified. The privacy concerns are apparent, given the ability to test for illegal drugs with a hair sample. Not to mention there was no consent given by Britney to have the salon sell her hair. After Popdirt contacted eBay yesterday for clarification, they have now cancelled the auction. The web site states: “This listing (330089956532) has been removed or is no longer available. Please make sure you entered the right item number. If the listing was removed by eBay, consider it canceled. Note: Listings that have ended more than 90 days ago will no longer appear on eBay.”
