Britney Spears Visits TRL

was on MTV’s Total Request Live on Tuesday to promote her new album ‘In The Zone’. Spears responded to criticism from Christina Aguilera that she was “fake” and “superficial” by pointing out Aguilera kissed Madonna as well, adding that despite her “amazing voice”, “she says things sometimes are are kind of rude.” She also joined Tyra Banks to weigh in on guys like Ashton Kutcher, Brad Pitt, Paul Walker, Will Smith, and Ben Affleck. Read on for a transcript.

TRL: We’re here with Britney Spears.

Britney: Oh, my god!

[ Cheers and applause ]

TRL: Yeah, they love you. I’ve seen a lot of sexy things on my journey
here in life in the 23 years that I’ve lived here, but when I saw your outfit at the AMA’s the other day, even I said, damn.

[ Cheers and applause ]

Britney: Well, thank you. Thank you so much.

TRL: Is that something you have to get worked up to pull off?

Britney: Actually, I have an amazing stylist. She comes in, and he’s
like, hey, here it is. But you know what? That one there was a lot of feathers and stuff like that, and you kind of want to be, okay, I’m going to be goddess now. You kind of do have to go through the phase of, here I go.

TRL: Transformation. Here you’re chilling, you got your jeans on, and
bam, you’re on the stage there with the whole arrangement.

[ Cheers and applause ] Kind of crazy. Another thing I caught on the
weekend which is kind of on a different note and I was shocked to see it because I only heard nice things coming out of your mouth about Christina. But she rips into Kelly Osbourne and Beyonce and you saying you had to kiss Madonna on the VMA’s because you needed a gimmick. She said these people aren’t artists. They’re just fake and superficial. Boo B.

Britney: But didn’t she kiss her, too?

TRL: Right.

Britney: She kissed her, too. Everyone’s like they want some form a
gimmick, I’m like, I’m just doing my job. The media, they’re the one that interpret it that way. I’m just doing what i do.

[ Cheers and applause ] And if they want to interpret it and misconstrue it in their way, let them misconstrue it.

TRL: How do you respond to Christina, though? Because that’s kind of
like a personal pot shot?

Britney: I don’t want to say anything about her.

[ Cheers and applause ] No, no, no, no, she has an amazing voice. She’s an amazing girl but she says things sometimes are are kind of rude. And
I don’t —

TRL: We’re seeing class right now, ladies and gentlemen. Very nice
for you to take the high road on that. We’re going to talk about your new album which has finally dropped today.

[ Cheers and applause ] That’s going to be after number 9, P.O.D. And “will you.”

[ Cheers and applause ]

[ Cheers and applause ]

TRL: There goes P.O.D. At number 9, “will you,” down two. We got to
take break. But we have more with Britney on the way. We’ll talk about “in the zone.” And we have a little surprise for you.

Britney: Surprise for me?

TRL: Yeah, we’re going to hook you up after the break.

Britney: And D is getting a dream come true. He’s with Tyra Banks in
the photo booth. Picture worth a thousand words. More after this.

[ Cheers and applause ]

[ Cheers and applause ]

TRL: What up? Welcome back to “TRL” on Tuesday, live in New York City. Here with Britney Spears. A lot of people came out to show you love, all
up on the street.

Britney: I know, man.

TRL: Blocking traffic.

Britney: This is crazy. Hello.

TRL: It’s all because you’re dropping your new album “in the zone” today.

Britney: Exactly.

[ Cheers and applause ]

TRL: And especially after, like, all the hype and all the buzz leading
up to it. It must be nice to just have it out finally.

Britney: It’s surreal. I’ve been working on this for a while. And it’s
— it’s finally coming out. And it’s like, whew! You know what i mean? I feel like this release, but it’s amazing. I’m so nervous.

TRL: Why?

Britney: It’s my baby. I thought out who i wanted to work with and I
tried to put my heart and soul into it. So of course, you’re going it be a little bit more — you know what i mean?

TRL: You can take a lot of pride because i heard you co-wrote a lot of songs on the record.

Britney: Yes.

TRL: Definitely a personal album. And lot of the songs — some of them are called “breathe on me,” “the hookup.” How much of the self- proclaimed
geek Britney is on as opposed to the god Jess.

Britney: What was the question?

TRL: So much noise. We’re trying to have a conversation here.

[ Cheers and applause ] I’m wondering how much of the self-proclaimed geek Britney is on the album as opposed to like the performer, self-assured Britney?

Britney: I think there’s a combination of both. I really think you definitely have humble sides to yourself, unlike heartbreak songs that make you a
little bit more vulnerable. And then there’s definitely the other songs that really just, you know, here i am, the goddess stuff.

TRL: Nice. Have have you the whole array on the record. On the song
“every time,” you sing “please forgive me. My weakness caused you pain. And this song is my sorry.” Was it harder or easier to write those personal lyrics?

Britney: I think it’s —

TRL: It’s kind of cathartic, right.

Britney: Yeah, i think it’s very therapeutic for to you say what you
want to say. Every time i sing it’s like therapy. It’s a cool song for me.

TRL: And no flat chair for it. You don’t have to sit on a couch .

Britney: No.

Britney: Exactly.

TRL: Nice. Well, you’ve been working around the clock to promote the
album. And we here at “TRL” have recognized all the effort that you’ve made. So we want to hook you up. You are going to get that now, a second. First, we’re going to get get to this video, day 47 for this one. Couldn’t retire — could retire if you don’t keep it in the top 10. It’s Outkast “hey ya.”

[ Cheers and applause ]

TRL: “Hey ya,” up two. Here with Britney Spears, of course. And you
have to go across the street to virgin record store to do a signing. Right? There have been people lining up there since this morning. We have a little bit of footage of that. People outside doing their thing. Look at that. Just trying to get at you. That’s kind of crazy.

Britney: Oh, that’s sweet.

TRL: And this is like one of so many gigs. You must be so exhausted.

Britney: It’s all good, though, because if it wasn’t for them, I’m not
here. So yeah.

[ Cheers and applause ]

TRL: We thought we’d get you a little gift. A little tlc from “trl.” We got you a gift basket and a massage gift certificate.

Britney: Oh, honey, thank you so much.

TRL: Treatments.

Britney: Thank you. I love it had. Thank you.

TRL: And just a little something to help you chill out and relax after all this.

[ Cheers and applause ]

Britney: Thank you so much.

TRL: Guys, welcome back to “TRL” on a big Tuesday. I know spankin’ week is officially over, spankin’ new music week. It actually looks like day seven of spankin’ new music week, if you’re counting. All of times square flooded. For these two pretty ladies, Tyra Banks and Britney Spears. I’m one of the luckiest guys right now. You’ve got the pop queen, the queen of the runway. And we wondered kind of — we’re kind of wondering what turns you guys on. Lot of people want to know this.

[ Cheers and applause ] Believe it or not, this is not a selfish pursuit
by me. We’re going to give you a list of guys. You got to tell me what your favorite feature is about each of these guys. I think we can really learn something here, little educational part of “TRL.” We call this zoning in. Finding out —

[ Cheers and applause ] — What you find sexy in each of these guys.
The first guy up is mr. Ben Affleck. Britney, would you like to go first?

Britney: I like his eyes.

TRL: His eyes.

Britney: I think his eyes are cute. They’re really hot.

Tyra: What do i like about him?

TRL: What do you like about him.

Tyra: I like his, “I don’t want to be here, you know, I’m just chillin’.” I like a guy who pretends he doesn’t want to be there, but he does.

TRL: Who tries but —

Tyra: Exactly.

TRL: Understandable. Will smith, let’s take a look at Will Smith.

[ Cheers and applause ] The ladies love will smith. Britney, what do
you think of Will Smith.

Britney: He just seems so fun and charismatic. Great
personality, yeah, yeah.

TRL: Tyra?

Tyra: I have to agree with Britney. And like, i see him around L.A.
And stuff. And people always see that crazy happy will smith, but he also has this sexy thing going on, too.

[ Cheers and applause ]

TRL: Oh, really?

Tyra: Yeah.

TRL: This guy, Paul Walker, yeah.

[ Cheers and applause ] Ladies love Paul — okay, Britney, you just
want to go. Go right ahead.

Britney: Everything. Hello! His curly hair, and his eyes, and I don’t
know. He’s hot, everything. He’s very sexy.

Tyra: I don’t know if he ever modeled before but he looks like he might have been in a male modeling agency.

TRL: That’s your professional opinion.

Tyra: Yes.

[ Cheers and applause ]

TRL: All right. Let’s take a look at this guy now. Ladies, please. Ladies, Ashton Kutcher.

[ Cheers and applause ] He’s very loud. He’s a very loud, boisterous

Britney: Very loud, rambunctious. Exactly. I don’t know. He’s like Paul
Walker, I think, too. Everything about him.

TRL: I heard he’s the only one who can pull off the trucker hat, too.

Britney: Yeah, he has his own little image thing.

TRL: Tyra?

Tyra: He was a model.

TRL: He was? I didn’t even know that.

Tyra: He talks about it. Like a lot of people that are models, which
is most everybody in Hollywood, don’t like to talk about it.

TRL: I don’t want to talk about my nude pictures that I did before this.

[ Laughter ]

Tyra: You can kind of see the bone structure.

TRL: He’s got the model look. Damn him.

TRL: Brad Pitt is next, ladies and gentlemen.

[ Cheers and applause ] Britney, I’m going to let Britney — I’m going
to let Britney go last on this one, because i think you got a lot it say. I read you like him.

Britney: I think he is so fine.

[ Cheers and applause ] He’s the kind of man that can look like funky
and stinky but still look fine.

TRL: Okay?

Tyra: You know how sometimes he just walks around in those paparazzi pictures and he looks like he hasn’t showered in five days. But it still
works for him.

Britney: I’m a complete goober for him. I have a confession to make.
I was in my car. And I have a navigational system. And I have star maps. And I shouldn’t be admitting this.

TRL: Are you serious?

Britney: I wanted to go to his house and see what it was like one day
in L.A. I just think he’s a sexpot. Hello.

TRL: That is a great story right there. That’s really funny. That’s all the hot guys we could round up for these two.

TRL: Britney, thank you very much for coming by. “In the zone” in stores now. Tyra will hang around for a a little bit. Make sure you hang out as the number 6 video plays, G-Unit, “Stunt 101.” We find out what is sexy next.

Britney, you once again handled yourself with dignity and respect. I love how Britney doesn’t stoop to their levels. Good job Britney.

Even Quddus complimented her on taking the high roads. She is so awesome.

  2. breez says:

The things she says are rude? Well Britney, the things you say are usually lies, scripted and ridiculously brainless. Respect to Christina for being honest, and telling it how she sees it. No sugar coating for Britney.

  3. Cicero says:

Hell yeah! Christina *does* have an amazing voice, and Britney would be deluded not to recognize that. But despite Christina’s totally unsolicited criticism, Britney decides not to drag stupid cat fights into the public eye. Good job Britney. As Christina said: “If you’ve got s*hit it say, say it to my face.” No need to piss in front of the media.

  4. crazysoul says:

I would choose an “artist” with an average voice but one who knows what to say’, ‘vs. one who has a fantastic voice but knows nothing about keeping her mouth shut.

  5. crazysoul says:

There’s a certain line drawn when it comes to honesty and talking bull crap is one. But then, everybody loves a controversy so I can only see her saying more bull crap in the future if not the present.

  6. rachel says:

ooh go Britney, I can’t wait to the full blown out fight. Christina will probably slay her but it’s good she said something back.

  7. rcrc says:

Christina will slay her? Christina is a twig.. no matter how many pounds she gains, it ain’t muscle it’s fat…Britney has great muscle tone and thick legs.

  8. goodnight says:

I don’t think there’s going to be a full blown fight. Britney is way too polite and Aguilera is way too passive aggressive for that to happen. For all of Christina’s tough talk she’s really just an immature brat throwing a tantrum. I find it amazing that someone who, in the Blender article, says she’s very happy with her life would get herself so worked up over the fact that no one cared that she kissed Madonna too. wah, wah, baby Christina. Clearly, when she called Britney a “lost little girl” she was just projecting. I know that Christina has talent but man, she has a crappy personality.

  9. rachel says:

I am not talking about a physical fight dumbass, I am talking about verbally but the sell proclaimed bitch Christina would make Britney Spears ball just like she did on dateline. Please Britney cries at the tiniest things, she is too sheltered. She cries when people criticize her etc because she feels people should like her.

  10. breez says:

You may think her personality is crappy, but at least it’s real. You may think you know Britney, but you don’t. Her personality is an act. Fake.

  11. joey says:

That was back in the days people didn’t think Britney Spears was a nut so she’d be able to do interviews… now she’s as sheltered as Jacko
