CBBC Newsround reports that after being photographed wearing rosary beads, Britney Spears has sparked a fashion craze which has upset the Roman Catholic Church in England and Wales. They have issued a leaflet about their use in prayer, fearing the significance of the beads is being lost. “It is a great pity if they are only being used as a decoration and not for devotional purposes,” a church spokesman said.
