Britney’s Job Is To Prevent Images And Sensations, Not Sing

Britney Spears performed at the Rose Garden arena Thursday night, and Marty Hughley of The Oregonian was there to review the show. He writes, “Whether Spears actually was singing is debatable, but that’s not really the point, now is it? Her real job is to present images and sensations, and whatever amount of sound-board sweetening that takes is just part of the deal. It’s all so prepackaged that the big screens showed credits at the end, as if for a movie. If the whole Onyx Hotel Tour pretext was silly and incoherent, that’s par for the course on this type of show. It’s not supposed to make sense; it’s supposed to make money. With a crowd of only about 8,000, though, Spears isn’t making as much money as she did a few years ago.”
