Elysa Gardner of USA Today profiled the new trend of talented female artists who write their own music and don’t dress in skimpy outfits. Among those mentioned were Michelle Branch, Vanessa Carlton, Pink, Nelly Furtado, and Alicia Keys. Carlton described with frustration of what’s big in the music industry, “There are these middle-aged men running the industry, and they’re like, ‘Let’s give ‘em what they want – a hot chick!
