Mariah Carey, Ciara, Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs, MC Lyte, Terrence Howard, Oprah Winfrey, Spike Lee and many more artists participated in a promotional ad for the National CARES Mentoring Movement. Susan L. Taylor, founder of the movement and editor-in-chief of Essence Magazine says: “Mentoring is all about caring. It’s caring enough to commit just one hour a week to advise and help guide a vulnerable young person. None of the forces claiming our children’s lives are more powerful than our commitment and love. I would just like to know what I can do to help put a stop to all of the voilence on our youth. It also hurts my heart to hear and see children killing each other for nothing. So if I could be given information on how to get involved, I’d appreciate it.
