Carlton Prefers Having No Idea About Her TV Exposure

Aidin Vaziri of The San Francisco Chronicle threw 15 questions at Vanessa Carlton, including asking about her being on VH1 all the time. “I haven’t watched TV in a really long time, but they’re very supportive, I hear,” she said. Told she had no idea how supportive, Carlton responded, “Right now I think I prefer it that way. It’s kind of this weird thing. There’s always something hilarious about seeing oneself on television. The whole larger-than-life aspect dissipates then and there. It’s like, well, if I’m on TV it’s not really that big a deal. I don’t buy into my press or my hype. At the end of it all, it’s about the songs and the quality of the album and whether you’re pushing yourself as an artist and staying vital. I plan on not being part of some trend.” Read more.
