Carlton Says Magazine Mentions Flattering But Weird

Vanessa Carlton spoke with the Toronto Sun’s Jane Stevenson about her being honored by Rolling Stone as one of the “Top 10 Artists To Watch in 2002.” Vanessa said, “That was exciting (Rolling Stone’s praise) ’cause that was the first time I was ever in a magazine, and for a reason like that, (it’s) definitely flattering. But it’s weird. I don’t really buy my own press, ever, even if it’s good. I don’t feel good unless I have a great show. That makes me feel good. Being on a list or not being on a list, it doesn’t affect me any. But it doesn’t mean I don’t appreciate it.”
