Caryn Ganz On ‘American Idol’ Stars Commercial Failings

Only a handful of ‘’ finalists have achieved fame at a level worthy of their title. Music critic Caryn Ganz explains why to CBS News. Ganz suggested that the success of ‘Idol’ to spawn hit artists isn’t much better than artists signed by labels. She suggested that viewers develop a bond with the ‘Idol’ contestants during the show seeing them week after week, but once they’re off TV “you kind of forget about them, and they’re back on the same playing field as everybody else who is trying to become a pop star.” Watch the report below.
