Catherine Donaldson-Evans profiled the recent flurry of music stars who’ve made the jump to the big screen and explains the trend is being caused by frugal, cautious mood brought about by the recession. Robert Thompson, a film and pop culture professor at Syracuse University explained, “Hollywood is not quite sure what the lay of the land is. They seem to be going for the sure thing.
