Fans of Justin Bieber are proving to be as nasty to Best New Artist Grammy Award winner Esperanza Spalding as they have been to the pop star’s rumored girlfriends. After receiving the honor at the Staples Center in Los Angeles, Beliebers turned to Twitter to vent their misplaced rage at the winner, with an insult/threat to compliment/congratulations ratio of about 100:1. MTV News reports that the just released shortlist for the Academy Award for Best Original Song includings Justin Bieber’s song ‘Never Say Never’. The duet with Jaden Smith was the theme song for ‘The Karate Kid’ and is one of 41 tracks on the list for Best Original Song. Cher’s ‘You Haven’t Seen the Last of Me’ from ‘Burlesque’, Avril Lavigne’s ‘Alice’ from ‘Alice in Wonderland’, and Colbie Caillat’s ‘What If’ from ‘Letters to Juliet’ are also in the running. Nominations are announced on January 25th.

Justin Bieber is reacting to his two Grammy nominations on Twitter (@justinbieber). The teen pop singer is nominated in the Best New Artist and Best Pop Vocal Album for ‘My World 2.0′. The Canadian native, who particpated via satellite on ‘The GRAMMY Nominations Concert Live!!’ on CBS earlier in the evening, told followers:

Justin Bieber has been added to the MTV Video Music Awards lineup, which will see the 16-year-old pop singer perform at the September 12th event at the Nokia Theatre in Los Angeles. “I’m excited to be performing at the VMAs. It is all still unbelievable, because last year I went for the first time and no one knew who I was,” said Bieber, who’s nominated for Best New Artist. “Just really shows that dreams can come true and what incredible, dedicated fans I have. I’m a lucky guy and grateful. Now I just want to get on that stage, have some fun in front of my heroes, because at the end of the day I’m still a kid and still a fan.” Read more.
