If you’re willing to fork over $885 for a ticket you can see Christina Aguilera (among others) perform live at this year’s Winter Olympics Closing Ceremony. NBC Olympic coverage has released that the ceremony will be on February 24th, 6:00-9:00 at Rice-Eccles Olympic Stadium. It will also be televised world-wide with an estimated 3.5 billion viewers.
Entertainment Tonight reports Jennifer Lopez was presented to Queen Elizabeth II after her part at the Royal Variety Performance in London. Also part of the annual fundraiser were performances by Elton John and Cher.
LFO will open for Britney Spears for several dates in December in the place of O-Town, who’ll be playing dates of their own that conflicted with Spears’ dates. You can check out the LFO shows in Boston Dec. 11, Raleigh, N.C., Dec. 14, Atlanta Dec. 15 and New Orleans Dec. 16.

The Miami Herald reports *NSYNC hopes to draw 250,000 fans for it’s free weekend concert on Miami’s South Beach on Sunday. The show is being staged to help the local economy while raising money for victims of the September 11 attacks. *NSYNC has waived their appearance fee but staging the concert will be expensive. Ten blocks in the area will be cordoned off for the show.
The Sun reports veteran rocker Alice Cooper beheads a Britney Spears lookalike when she bursts on stage singing Hit Me One More Time during his current US tour. Hopefully this isn’t a human lookalike. Strange behavior from a rocker that told Metal-Sludge.com he admits to singing along to Britney tunes insisting, “Who doesn’t?”
Britney Spears has postponed her opening night concert performance in Washington DC that was set for Wednesday citing production delays. The tour will instead kick off in Columbus, Ohio on Thursday.
Geri Halliwell performed at the London Astoria-s G.A.Y.night with a variation of her former Spice Girl bandmates, these in drag. Geri sang Spice Girl songs such as Wannabe, Who Do You Think You Are? and 2 Become 1.
The Inquirer’s Jonathan Valania was on hand at Tuesday’s sold-out concert Janet Jackson concert at Philadelphia’s First Union Center and said of her performance, “Divas are creatures of spectacle, and Jackson knows how to dazzle.” While admitting her vocals were “studio perfect”, Valania wondered if she was singing live.
AP reports the “United We Stand: What More Can I Give?” raised about $2 million off of ticket sales for a crowd of 46,000. Opening the show were the Backstreet Boys who sang the National Anthem as Kevin Richardson told the crowd, “We can’t let them defeat us. We have to get up, get out and live our lives every day.”
