Downtown Julie Brown welcomed Australian teen pop star Cody Simpson to ‘The Music Insider’ studio for an interview aired on December 22nd. Cody talked about being discovered thanks to his YouTube videos – but not doing it with the intention to become a pop star, his love for hip hop music, finishing up his new album in January to release soon, working with Justin Bieber, and more.
“I’ve been creating this great sound and I’m really excited,” Cody explained. “I think there’s a point in every artist’s career, my career is obviously just beginning I haven’t even released a debut album yet, but I think it’s definitely a great time to do that in 2012 and I’m excited for it. I’m gonna go out and tour in February. It’s gonna be a really great year.”

Ashley Tisdale wished everyone a Happy New Year and talks about her feelings on resolutions in a new YouTube video. “For me, I don’t really make any New Year’s resolutions anymore,” the singer and actress explained, “because I learned early on that when I did, I never really followed through with the resolution. For example, I was just beginning, I just had started working out, and I was doing pretty good at the gym, my New Year’s resolution is to keep going at the gym and just reach my goals. What happened was New Year’s happened, and I didn’t step foot in a gym for eight months after that.” Watch the message below.
Jasmine V (Jasmine Villegas) turned 18 on December 7th and talked to Popstar! magazine at her birthday party last month. The singer talked about her best birthday memories, putting out music, her lipgloss and what inspired it, and Rihanna and Chris Brown being her dream collaboration.
“To be honest my birthday wish came true,” Jasmine said when asked what her birthday wish was. “My family came out here and everybody made it, my friends, so I’m super excited and couldn’t have asked for more.”

Hot Chelle Rae is out with a brand new hit album, single, and celebrating an American Music Award for “New Artist of the Year.” Walmart Risers sat down with the guys to get the inside info, discussing their collaboration with New Boyz on ‘I Like It Like That’, the organic filming of the song’s music video at a Walmart parking lot, the inspiration for their ‘Tonight Tonight’ single, how all the songs on the ‘Whatever’ album are a story of the ride they’ve been on the past year, how the band met, an internet imposter inspiring the band’s name, touring with The Script, and keeping in contact with fans via Twitter.
“We said that ‘Tonight Tonight’ was inspired by one night of being crazy, and ‘I Like It Like That’ was basically like a year of those nights,” frontman Ryan Follesé explained. “Nashville is like a really fun town where we’re from, it’s filled with honky tonks and music and tons of musicians, and it really is a testament to the way that we live and how we are and how much fun we like to have when we’re not working our butts off.”

Katy Perry is out with the music video to her new single ‘The One That Got Away’, off the Santa Barbara, California pop singer’s third studio album ‘Teenage Dream’, out now on Capitol Records.
“I’m so pleased to select ‘The One That Got Away’ as my sixth single because this song shows a very different side of me that I haven’t shown with my past singles on this record, I think that everyone can relate to this song,” Perry said. “I wrote (it) about when you promise someone forever, but you end up not being able to follow through. It’s a bittersweet story. Hopefully, the listener learns from hearing it and never has to say they had ‘The One’ get away.”
