Lily Allen Begs Fans To Boost Her To #1 On U.S. Album Charts

checked in with fans on her blog at MySpace on Thursday (February 12), requesting fans in America to pick up her just released sophomore album in a bid to land atop the U.S. charts. The British singer songwriter is benefitting from a slow period in album releases, but up against the boost Alison Krauss and Robert Plant received after their Grammy wins. Allen tells readers:

Ok, so I never thought I would have to write this blog. Earlier today my record company told me ‘It’s Not Me, It’s You’ (my new album) has a pretty good chance of going to number 1 in the US charts this week. I’m currently sitting behing Alison Krauss and Robert Plant, who, quite rightly are sitting at no 1. I’ve never had a number one album in England, never mind the US, and all of this is a bit crazy. I could well be up for no1 here (America), which makes me want to cry a bit. I’ve never begged you to buy from me ever, but I am now. This will be the only time ever in my life that this could happen for me. Help me get to no 1, go to iTunes and download the album, you’re the only hope I’ve got guys. I’ll love you forever.

Ps thank you to everyone who has brought me this far.

I love you always x

Go to iTunes and download, please

David Archuleta’s Debut Album Poised To Sell 200k, Debut At #3

'David Archuleta' album cover

With 56% of the sales figures in at HitsDailyDouble.com, ‘American Idol’ season seven runner-up appears on pace to sell around 200,000 copies of his self-titled debut. Archuleta is set to come in at #3, behind Taylor Swift and the compilation album ‘Now 29′, while edging out T-Pain’s ‘Thr33 Rings’.

Reviews of the disc have been mixed – here’s three:

Preston Jones – Star-Telegram
“Archuleta is little more than human Silly Putty. He’s been pushed, pulled and stretched in so many different directions, it’s a wonder that he has anything even remotely resembling a personality.”

Scott Iwasaki – Deseret News
“Archuleta’s CD is a welcome breath of fresh, clean air. However, it isn’t a mind-boggling artistic statement. No. It’s a simple pop CD that is guaranteed to sell millions.”

Kathi Gadow – The Badger Herald
“Archuleta’s jaw-dropping vocals and fun lyrics suggest this will not be the only successful album in his career.”

Girls Aloud ‘Tangled Up’ Debuts At #4 In UK Album Charts

’s fourth album ‘Tangled Up’ is the girl group’s second highest charting studio album after debuting at #4 in the UK album charts. “Wow, this means so much to us,” Nicola Roberts said in a bulletin sent out to the group’s MySpace friends. “It’s our fourth studio album and it’s one of our highest charting already! Some bands don’t even make it past album number three! It’s really exciting as we feel we’ve grown so much with this album. Our style has changed so much from ‘The Sound of the Underground’ days, as well as our wardrobe(!), and we think we’re so fortunate to still be doing something we love so much.” The girls were beaten out by ‘X Factor’ winner Leona Lewis, who remained at #1 for the second week with ‘Spirit’, Westlife, who moved up one to #2 with ‘Back Home’, and Katherine Jenkins, who debuted at #3 with ‘Rejoice’.
