John Mayer: What Is A Douchebag?

After telling TMZ outside Stereo in New York City last month, “I’m kind of a douchebag. I got a little sick of myself … I’m insufferable,” the singer songwriter is apparently getting a little sensitive about the subject after noticing others have been using the ‘d word’ to describe him too.

“I know that I get called one,” Mayer writes. “Pete Wentz from Fallout Boy, by measure of a Google search, is a douchebag 11,100 times over, or the number of results that the search engine says exist. Zach Braff, who himself wrote one of the better films I’ve seen in the last decade is also frequently ‘bagged, as is some guy named Brody Jenner. In fact, if you want to go big, so is Michael Stipe, Bono (‘supreme douchebag’), Thom Yorke, Will Smith and Brad Pitt. Are you as confused as I am as to what the common denominator of douchiness is? Is it someone that comes off obnoxious? Self aggrandizing? Ignorant? Or is it just someone who exists out of another person’s comfort zone? And doesn’t that account for almost everyone in the world, celebrity or otherwise?” Mayer has since removed the posting from his blog.

Scandals Affecting Britney Spears Radio Interest

Roger Friedman of FoxNews.com weighed in on how ’ new single ‘Gimme More’ appears to be topping out in radio airplay, suspecting that her personal life is affecting her career. He writes, “The record’s opening admonition: ‘It’s Britney, bitch,’ sounded cocky and fun a month ago, but now that Spears’ entire life has fallen apart, the whole idea may be causing winces instead of knowing clucks. And that poses the ever-bigger problem: What can Jive Records do about the album that’s supposed to hit stores on Nov. 13? Now that she’s lost custody of her toddler sons, the last thing Spears needs is a series of sexy or risqué videos to promote the album.” Read more.

Patti Davis: When Celebs Abuse Rehab

Patti Davis weighed in on news that is the latest of a string of young starlets who have checked themselves into rehab, and in Lindsay’s case, the second time this year. “It makes me angry when I see how the opportunity of being in rehab can be abused as nothing more than a slick PR move. A brief retreat from the paparazzi,” Davis writes in Newsweek. “How lucky these celebrities are to be able to go to one of these facilities (which are not cheap) and to benefit from the wisdom and help that waits behind the gates. I struggled for years to learn on my own what someone like Lohan could learn in months, if she were willing to do so. Of course, that learning also has to be followed by practice. Every day. Forever. But it can start in rehab.” Read more.

Contributed anonymously:

is one of the biggest pop stars of all time. Her malleable persona has kept her at the top of the charts and in the public eye for nearly a quarter of a century. By blurring distinctions between her music, her videos and her sexuality, she has redefined pop stardom. Is Justice Jealous?

Famed paparazzo E.L. Woody and his videographer sidekick Henry Trappler have weighed in on the news has been sentenced to 45 days in jail due to a DUI probation violation. “I think that justice peeked from beneath her blindfold and got jealous of a very beautiful, outgoing, flamboyant, self sufficient, well dressed, young woman,” E.L. writes at Celebrities.com. “People are supposed to be judged by the nature of their crime, not on the example they could make if they were successfully humiliated in front of the public. What happened to equality? Isn’t everyone supposed to be equal in front of the bar of justice?” Henry added, “I am shocked and appalled at the sentence. Paris is not a criminal. I have known her since she was 17 years old and she has always been a sweet and kind young lady. Paris has a good heart and a good soul.” Celebrities.com has since shut down.
