Radio 1 reports that BBC bosses are apologizing for Sue Barker’s unscripted crack about Gavin Henson and Charlotte Church in front of millions of viewers. Welsh rugby coach Mike Ruddock was being interviewed by Barker on BBC’s Sports Personality of the Year broadcast about Wales’ chances of winning the Six Nations, when Barker remarked: “33-1 before last season’s championships, 16-1 going into this. Now if you can keep Henson out of Church, going into it – what are the chances?” Afterwards, 37 people rang to complain about the joke. The BBC said the quip “was intended as a humorous remark and we are sorry if it caused any offense.”
